Actually, her words were, "for the first time in my life, I'm proud of my country". In other words, she's never been proud of her country (through at least two Democratic presidents) until her husband was nominated for President. I don't think she's ugly and even more important, I don't see where her physical appearance matters.

You omitted some words. Why am I not surprised?

Words that makes all the difference.

“For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country,”

And I don't see what is so wrong with those words.

This recent election has made me more proud of America than I ever have been as well. I never thought we would see an African American president in my lifetime and given the events of 911, the fact that America has the capacity to see beyond something superficial (like a name) and elect a man named Barack Obama just warms my heart.

Those feelings do not make me unAmerican- and it's never that I was not proud of my country, but what just happened in America was a sign of tremendous progression and I am more proud than I ever imagined.

Exactly!
Which means Michelle Obama must be VERY envious and have a very big chip on her shoulder. Her speeches on the campaign trail were all about complaining.....all about what was was wrong in America.....whinw, whine, whine.

A bitter, bitter woman she is.

You know - I just have to roll my eyes at people who accuse Michelle of being bitter when it's so damned clear that the ones denigrating her are bitter. Their posts ooze EXTREME bitterness and jealousy.

What does Michelle have to be bitter about?

Her and her husband are both successful people and they have a beautiful family.

Knuckleheads.

You're fooling no one but yourselves.

She wears a huge race chip, and the bitterness is readily evident. I find it ironic (and disgusting) that she can be so easily "changed" from her great stands on integrity and pretends to coo and crow happily now that she is getting into the WH. Yes, all very ugly.... And not easily erased with mere botox injections.
