Bush was not an effective speaker.

But the alternatives (Gore, Kerry) were even worse.

2000 and 2004 were the most painful election years ever. Even last year the Democrats were risking quite a bit by sticking a newbie out front.. But I suppose after even your veteran politicians get beat, it is time to try something new..

Getting elected does not mean one is an effective speaker.. Try to link the two..

No it does not.
Getting re-elected is normally due to just a few things.
1. The encumbant was that good.
2. The opposition was that bad
3. Both are on par with each other and americans normally don't like change.

How is that any different from a black person saying axed instead of asked?
At least 15 million people regularly say axe for ask - only one says misunderestimated.

I hear many people mispronounce words, mis-use words or don't know basic facts.
I watched a show where they went around a city asking basic questions.
How many stars are on our flag?
How many stripes?
What to they stand for?
I was amazed by how many people didn't know any of these answers.

A gaff is a gaff, and unless your going to start to explain how much sleep Bush had for every gaff from Bush, every one from Obama is fair game..
No ... you are wrong.

Sleep deprivation causes people to not be able to speak or think coherently.

I know this for fact ... because I have experienced sleep deprivation many times from a medical condition I had years ago.

Show me a video of Obama having trouble speaking since becoming President, when he is no longer running around on little or no sleep while campaigning.

You know you can't ... because NO SUCH VIDEO EXISTS!

To the OP, I think he could give a speech and it was like a guy you can shoot the bull with is talking to you, not to thousands of people. I know I've slaughtered words before, and so have other politicians because they are human. I think if you can connect with your audience and make them feel like your talking to that one person your a great speaker. I took a radio class in college and they said don't think your talking to alot of people imagine your having a conversation with a friend, and I think he did that.

You mean sleep deprivation that might be cause by stress similar to what President Bush would be going through?

Thanks for confirming my point while trying to argue over it..
