You know, if 320 million people suddenly dumped all their appliances and bought new ones, you'd just be complaining about wasteful and irrational those Americans are.

For their worse voltage? Okay.

Btw. How come NASA uses SI-system and the rest of the country uses the imperial one?

Actually this was back in the 50's if I remember right.

I believe it's Edison's fault, he tried to force USA to use DC 110V first

I'm obsessed about science yes. So what? Let's talk about other differences between USA and Europe!

Hmm some people in the UK drive very small cars. That's surely a difference

To build on this -- OP, I'm not advocating using proxies, as that would surely be in violation of international law, but I've heard some of them are very good. In fact, it's possible to access US sites (as well as UK, French, German, etc. etc.) using a proxy from anywhere you happen to be -- so I have heard.

That will definitely effect someones well being.

Climate, different urban fabric, different norms, cost of living may be more important.

I don't have to have a degree related to electricity to discuss whether or not all American appliances someone takes with them to Europe willy nilly will be compatible with European voltage.

So thanks but no thanks - I'll stay.

I DO wish you Europeans would get your act together though when it comes to plugs and outlets.
