The better question to ask is what idiot country will be the first to lift all lockdowns thus starting it all over again, as of now the lockdown should go on for 2 months at least even if no one appears sick or else it will start all over again.
I agree. Once new infections are consistently below 100 a day, the lock down should last another month just to be sure.

When the history of the coronavirus epoch is written, The Watchdog hopes historians don’t neglect to mention Prestige Ameritech and its owner, Mike Bowen. The North Richland Hills company is America’s No. 1 maker of hospital surgical masks.

During this crisis, you’d think the company would be pushing forward on all cylinders, working 24/7 to manufacture the one commodity that Americans and the rest of the world want so badly.

You’d be wrong.

https://www.dallasnews.com/news/watc...ampaign=buffer

This is what I would underline in the article.
It's all done on the Federal government level - this kind of decisions.
There is no sense to blame Americans for wanting to buy something for 2 cents instead of a dime.
Not only they were slowly and carefully conditioned for that from the nineties, but the salaries that were stagnating for ages dictate them this choice as well.

If you'd read the book I've mentioned here before - "The Wall Mart Effect," it gives a good insight of what took place in US at that time and how.
Now "WHY" - that's already an interesting question.

This period ( the nineties that is,) coincided with Clinton's planned "welfare reform" in the US. ( One doesn't need to forget that Hillary was sitting on the Walmart board of directors.)
She needed those guaranteed Wal-Mart jobs that were mushrooming all over the place, to keep all these women transitioning to workforce, in order to support the reform.

That's when it comes to women from the lower ladder of the society; but overall one of the major reasons why the "Corporate Democrats" need the growth of the corporate world, is of the same nature.
Corporations hire women from the "higher ladder," guaranteeing them decent income, healthcare, paid leave and so on. Sort of like Soviet state was guaranteeing a lot of it to its women. American state doesn't do that, since the capitalism American style is not compatible with idea of the "women emancipation" to begin with, and idea behind the small business makes women dependent on men's income for the most part.
Healthcare becomes questionable as well.

But I digress.

Back to the face masks, that are so badly needed now everywhere.

I was listening today the rumbling of Tucker Carlson, chastising indignantly American multinational conglomerate 3M, apparently for failure to dump immediately all its other international customers, and to remember all of a sudden its "American origin and priorities."

"Peter Navarro has said that China decided to "nationalize effectively 3M, our company." On March 21, 2020, The New York Post reported that shortages were due to shipments from China being halted after the Chinese government mandated that manufacturers reserve the masks for Chinese customers. China has not exported any N95 masks since February 19.[65] 3M said most of the masks made at their Shanghai plant had been sold prior to the outbreak, but could not confirm when exports would resume.[66]"
^
(That's from the WIKI)

That's what you get, when the "multinationals" move their production to China ( I underline specifically - to CHINA, because Mexico is a whole different story and production there doesn't belong to the same category.)
And that's how European nations find themselves in the same mess as the US, since they too had to start relying on China's production, in order for THEIR economies to stay competitive with American profits, made on cheap Chinese labor.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsmKvC7RpEQ

So how pathetic is the whole situation with masks by now?

China;
The gift that keeps on giving.

Norwegians used to admire the Swedes 30 years ago but a lot has changed since then.

All pay attention only to the Covid-19 curves. But a recession and isolation regime are always associated problems that can also cause death, domestic violence, illness, etc. Who can calculate these losses? And is it possible to choose a smaller problem?
