I am leaving! Just two more months to go and I already have a place lined up to live. I was supposed to get out last month which is why I have so much pent up anger.

I actually expect my whining to increase quite a bit the next few months. lol. The heat fronts that come through in late October and November that bring the temps above 90 degrees are often bad weeks for me.

I was able to go jogging at 11 pm last night though. The depths of night are getting cool enough so that I can finally go outside. It is a nice relief to get out of the house.

FYI, I started a new account because of the snide comments I would receive about my old user name from time to time.

No job could pay me enough to live in a place where the weather was not to my liking. Thats living to work, not working to live.
Many of us (like myself) were born here and the recession put a ball and chain on our feet so we were stuck here.

It isn't exactly easy to do that. I have made two honest attempts to move away ( I made a third, but I really didn't try very hard) and the job market has made it so finding work is much more difficult today. My move out to Atlanta in 2010 and Dallas in early 2012 were just terrible. Endless applications and not even so much as an interview. You can't get settled in a new place unless you can find work.

So what was your old user name?

I am the OP of this thread, Insanetravler. I made that account back in June of 2009 when I made my first attempt to move out of Florida. I found an apartment on craigslist in Chicago and was gone within a week. I came back less than a month later because the economy was freefalling and I realized that I didn't have a well thought out plan or enough savings to sustain me for more than two months. I now think of that attempt as more of an extended vacation.

All of my friends and family were calling me insane for doing what I did so that is why I thought of that name.

Wow. That's a lot of reputation points to give up. Can I have them please.

I had to change. I really couldn't form an opinion on anything without someone making a comment about my name. I post in the P&OC forum a lot and it happened all the time. I'd give you my rep if I could.

I still don't get it. You hate Florida, but you've chosen Atlanta and Dallas in the past? Those places are just as hot. Shouldn't you be headed north, like actual north like Maine or Wisconsin, not just a little north of Florida?

Nah. Those places aren't nearly as hot as Florida. Well, they are, but only in the Summer. Atlanta and Dallas have a summer that is roughly four months long. Florida has Summers that are eight months or longer.

I don't hate hot weather all year long and I actually enjoy Summer activities outside such as boating, fishing, or just hanging out at the pool (I don't like the beach though. Its too far to drive to one that my friends and I can drink on). What I hate is how long the heat stays in Florida. Come September I am SO done with it! I become lethargic and like a slug.

But yeah, in the North Texas and North Georgia area the intense heat is gone by September. I was just in Atlanta early September and their nights were cooler than Tampa is now!

The dream though is to one day get to California.

I am done as well and happy to see a slight cool down arriving in Miami for the weekend. I get by in October and November enjoying the last of the pool season. I went swimming in my pool last night and was glad it was still warm enough that the water wasn't chilly yet.
