Man oh man does brucerby nail it on the head! Only you can make you happy.
One person goes to a restaurant and rates it horrible.
The next raves about it.
Like the three blind men who touch an elephant.
One touches the trunk and sais it is a snake.
One touches the leg and sais it is a tree.
One touches the tail and sais it is rope.
So the same goes for how anyone and everyone view life.
As far as Florida, if you move here from the north and go back
to your god forsaken winters complaining it is too hot down there,
then good ridance. Leave this wonderful tropical paradise to the
hardcore sun worshipers and beer drinking pirates who it is intended
for. Back north you can live happily ever after shopping at the mall
and cuddling under your blanket watching your oversized television
set as the snow buries you in. Meanwhile I will be on the beach with
a margarita, Jimmy Buffett blasting in my mp3 player, a nice fat cuban
cigar hanging on my lips and a middle finger pointed back north.

Nice way to start on CD... Good attitude.

Since moving to FL 5 years ago, it has been rocky at times job wise but overall it improved my quality of life significantly and has now grown on me. FL has been pretty good to me and my family.

Default I love Florida!

Congratulations on your move to Florida! I relocated to Longwood Florida from La Verne, California. I love it and would never move back to California! Cali is waaaay overrated! First off the beaches are ugly and COLD, even in the middle of the summer! People have this false Baywatch image of Southern California that couldn't be farther from reality! The cost of living in Cali is at least 25% higher... Gas is always about a dollar higher, you pay state income taxes in California, and you don't in Florida. North Central Florida is NOT hot and muggy year round like many people say it is... Longwood FL and surrounding cities actually have a pleasant fall, winter, and spring. Summer can be hot and muggy, but certainly not all summer long! Miami and the Keys may be hotter and muggier more months of the year, but certainly not year round! Don't listen to all the uneducated comments people make about living in Florida! Every city has it's differences in Florida, and in California! If you're moving to Cali just because you hear that you'll earn more money, then you're crazy because you'll give all back in housing, DMV Fees, CRV Taxes, mandatory vehicle smog inspections & fees, auto insurance, state income taxes, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc! Good luck all!

As a native Californian you are mostly right. The beaches are cold, but they are beautiful and access is better than in a lot of FL. Beyond that wayyyy too costly.
