Decision made! Ham steaks grilled on the BBQ, sweet potatoes, yellow neck squash (cooked elstons way on the BBQ) and sliced tomatoes and creamed cucumbers. YUM!
I always cook my hams with the coke! I have tried so many recipes and nothing compares to the coke method! I just stab some holes in it, pour come coke over it, wrap tightly in tinfoil and bake! sounds simple and it is.
Perfect every time!
It's been many many years ago that I remember my mom baking a ham with a glass funnel inserted in it. She filled it with 7-Up every time it would empty. That was one good ham.
I don't remember having ham cooked with 7-Up or coke but I do remember beer being used. The glaze was always a mustard based glaze (don't remember the ingrediants) and cloves stuck into the ham.
I always score the ham, press some brown sugar into the scores, imbed some cloves and bake it with my "secret ingredient" basting upon it. It comes out fabulous!! When it's done, I simply empty the marinade from the pan and put it into a gravy boat. Sometimes I also stab the ham with toothpicks with a bing cherry and slice of pineapple on each one and let the pineapple turn brown from the baking.
Maybe if I type it really small, word won't get out about the secret ingredient: grenadine
Location: Finally made it to Florida and lovin' every minute!

CheyDee, I do something along your lines. I can't use cloves (hate them), but I make a glaze of mustard and brown sugar, which I set aside. I score the ham, put it in the roaster and pour either white wine or apple cider in the bottom and just roast it. About 1/2 an hour before I take it out, I spread the glaze on it. Yum.
Dinner might be popcorn - we went to this great burger joint for a late lunch/early dinner and I am jsut way too stuffed for supper tonight.
