Assuming that you've let it bake as long as the recipe says, poke a toothpick between some of the pecans toward the center of the pie down into the filling. If it comes out with the filling still visible on it, it's not done. If it comes out with just a gleaming coat of melted butter, it's safe to take out of the oven.

I got it MBW and thanks so much! Don't ever feel concerned about posting a recipe here, ever!! If it's about food, or many other subjects for that matter it is just fine! We obviously get a bit off subject now and again but eventually we always get back to food too!!

Later this afternoon I'll be going to a cousin's home for dinner. In my large extended family, we have eleven birthdays in November, including my paternal grandmothers 100th birthday, which is today. Many years ago, we began the tradition of celebrating all the November birthdays on one day, usually on the day of my grandmother’s birthday.

I believe tonight's dinner is going feature prime rib, and various side dishes. Since it is so close to Thanksgiving, we try not and duplicate anything that might be served then...and since it is so close to Thanksgiving, and we have just had a large family dinner we tend to go our own ways on Thanksgiving and have smaller, immediate family Thanksgiving dinners.

This year I was assigned the task of making the dinner rolls, so I made sourdough rolls yesterday...

Hope everybody has a wonderful day!

On its way, my dear. I hope it doesn't gum up your works - it's still a bit warm!

Seattle, what a wonderful tradition for your family, and it takes the stress out of where will we go for T'giving. Many happy returns to your grandmother.

I actually made the entire meal today (albeit w/DH standing over my shoulder!). Yay! Gotta go check the rib, it's almost done.

Just checking in and saying hi. It snowed last night, yuk. My satellite internet wasn't working until my husband just got me back online about 1/2 hour ago.

Pot roast was really good last night. Hot dogs for the hubby and I'm doing grilled cheese and tomato soup tonight.
