I will smudge our new home with white sage; I am bringing some with me that I gathered for that purpose from the local hills, though I don't think of it as an exocism, but more as a way to consecreate and dedicate the space-but yes it is a purification ritual. I think it is similar to the way a priest uses the incense to sanctify the space for the mass.
I will put the sage in an abolone shell light it and then walk around the exterior and interior of the house fanning the smoldering sage with a feather.
--I also use a drum for similar effect......"good vibrations".
That's a good thought about using the drum...I've got mine packed up already and hopefully I can remember what box it's in when I get there!
Love the idea of the salt on the threshold kshe!
Hubby is coming home tonight for 5 days! I'm going to attempt making the Memphis Pulled Pork someone posted awhile ago. Only problem the store didn't have the butt pork roast so I got country style bone in ribs - think that'll work OK?
Yep...I get it! I had a fantastic friend/housekeeper in CA, her name was "Dina". This lady knew how to cook and she made some great meals just off the top of her head. If I was ill she would throw all kinds of things in a pot--usually some kind of a chicken dish and out would come this wonderful meal. It always made me feel better every time! So here is a dish Amber put together and has named it "Dina". Good name choice Amber!!
This is a lovely salad- it was called Italian Country Salad in the book-
Tear up Ciabbata into small pieces in a large bowl and add bite size pieces of cucumber and firm tomatoes. Add black olives, a sliced red onion, loads of basil, torn up, and chopped parsley, and mix it all up. Add a vinegarette made with olive oil and garlic wine vinegar. Sprinkle on some toasted pine kernels- that's it. Really yummy!
Elston, don't you sleep? Or are you just too excited/busy getting ready for the big move. GOOD LUCK!
