In an hour or two I'll put my roast beef in the crock pot with carrots, onions (lots of big chunks of onions) garlic, celery, onion soup mix and other seasonings, potatoes and mushrooms go in later.

A tossed salad and fruit and yogurt round out this meal. Good thing is we will be eating roast for a few days.

I cant decide yet.....choices are:

1. Roast Chicken with vegetables, mashed potato or rice
2. Lobster bisque enriched with langostino tails.....and chicken salad or egg salad rolls

It will probably be the chicken because I didn't put it in the freezer yesterday when I came home from market and the fixins for #2 are already frozen.

PS I just read nokudzu's menu and think I will do my chicken in similar fashion in the my dutch oven.....the crock pot seems too big for this little chicken.

Last night we had burritos from a place called Bubba's. I had a veggie one with guacamole inside. Hubby had a ground beef one. Mine was the junior size, the regular size could feed 2 people. Tonight is pan fried chicken cutlets, leftover mashed potatoes and peas.

Leftover meatloaf from yesterday with elbow pasta and a green bean salad...and also for non meat eaters I made (Dum Aloo) a potato yogurt curry dish with chapatis, served with a raw vegetable platter and water. For dessert we are lately indulging in fresh mangoes
Here is a link the way I make it today Dum Aloo Punjabi Recipe - with Step by Step Photos - Spicy Curry with Curd Based Gravy

The Dum Aloo Recipe looks intriguing......however it calls for several ingredients ("asafoeta and methi) that I don't have and likely never will have. I am wondering if gram masala would substitute for these, or can they be omitted and still have a tasty dish ?

elston you can omit 'Asafoetida' (it is a bitter paste I buy from the Indian store sometimes) 'Methi' is Fenugreek and if I don't have fresh fenugreek I use fenugreek seeds. If you do not have fenugreek seeds substitute with yellow mustard seeds (the amount is the same) Don't use garam masala that will change the taste of this dish totally AND also I do NOT add the sugar.

The dish has already some of these ingredients...
