When I was in school, eating really well, I did this:

Bought vegetables that could be cut up and eaten raw. Piece of fruit.

Made hard boiled eggs to last a week.

Cook up a meat. Chicken, some bacon, even a cold cut up steak.

Got some of these,LunchBots Stainless Steel Food Containers | Bento Boxes | Lunch Containers, and made a different combination every day. Put them in my soft sided cooler, and had a feast in my car in the parking lot.

Just a little cooking, a cutting board, and a chef knife.

I think the OP is talking about the difficulty, not the impossibility.

If you have go somewhere and say give me the fish and veggies, do not make it how you normally do and leave off all the sauce..... that's kinda the point.

And for all the snark, apples that we get in Hawaii do not brown. I put a part of one in most of my smoothies, and I just went to go look at one that has been cut open for over a week, left unwrapped in the fridge.... no brown.

As for the apples, I suspect it depends on the variety. We usually get Fuji, and they turn brown. But I cut up a Honeycrisp the other day, and it stayed white.

This is true. The OP didn't say he/she couldn't cook, just, for whatever reason didn't want to and bemoaned the lack of healthier alternatives in that place. I just wonder how many places the OP thinks there could possibly be?

It's weird. I buy a variety, half tart and half sweet, it's always different types. May be because everything is shipped here. /shrug

I don't go to fast food restaurants anymore because of too many lowlifes working in them and obviously clueless management. I have found foreign garbage in my food (a plastic shred; a piece of ?cardboard? or whatever; a sharp piece if chicken bone). White Castles aren't cooked properly anymore. Healthy or not, they haven't a clue how to cook them. They've become blocks of dry inedible junk. Mickie Dee has managed to make everything completely flavorless; and Burger Kings stuff all tastes exactly alike - like overheated oil. Look in back and see who's working in there unsupervised and that's all you need to know.

Restaurants, fast food or not, are complicated things to operate and require round the clock supervision by some one who fully understands what goes into the preparation of the food and takes responsibility for what gets served. Apparently, that part is history.

There appear to be 2 subtopics within this thread....

1) not having the time to eat healthy
While your meals won't be as good as someone who had time to chop all their own, veggies, etc., you should be able to get what you need from grocers. If While Foods is all you got, then i feel for u

2) the sheer amount of junk out there
We can blame big sugar, big junk food, and company for their lobbying that keeps the laws and profits on their side. While it's possible to eat healthy, the deck really is stacked against us.

I am certain those people making those are cooking for like 10 and bringing in parts of it. MUCH easier to cook for TEN, than for one. Especially when you're working and actually paying taxes, for ONE.

I'm guessing some people want the option to eat healthy who don't like to cook, right?

One of the ways to avoid eating all that FF is buying certain appliances that can make either large amounts of soups or other food and also rice cookers. I work 12 hour shifts at least 3 times a week anymore, and when I'm pressed for time I can do some prep work the night before with my rice cooker so when i get home the next day I can just add veggies to steam with my brown rice and if I don't have a protein already made, I always keep frozen pre-cooked skinless chicken in my freezer I can bring out and microwave in a pinch.

I always try to buy fresh meat and cook enough for several days worth of meals, but I also have frozen chicken and veggies. Also, frozen veggies are like a buck/bag and you can eat as much of that as you want.

I get one day off if I'm lucky anymore, and I have to do some amount of cooking done on that day. I'm usually cooking my proteins on that day, and doing my rice and veggies for that dinner. I just have to keep up with the dishes but my rice cooker/steamer doesn't take long. I'm pretty simple though lol.
