The two staples Lamb & Ham. But I love our Friday tradition, we are not allowed to "light a fire" or cook on Good Friday so Holy Thursday night we fry fish and make hot cross buns and that is all we eat on Good Friday. I love everything about Easter especially flying the kites after church on Sunday.
Never heard of that, but it sounds like a fun tradition!
As a recovering Catholic, I find religious holidays unimportant. If anything, I suppose they are a good excuse to get family together for nice sit down meals.
I am going to make rib eye steaks and some shrimp. Don't know the sides yet but it worked well for Christmas as everyone seems to do something so it wasn't me cooking all day.

Now that our kids are too old for Easter baskets of candy (their decision, not mine), we have our Easter candy on the Monday after Easter - when it goes on sale!
Baked ham with brown sugar and pineapple glaze, baked sweet potatos, buttermilk biscuits, 7 layer Jello salad, steamed vegetables and two types of pies (apple or cherry) for desert.
When I lived in Helena Montana the Easter of 2006 we ate rabbit because my friends father shot it on his land.
We found it befitting the day and despite it's gamey taste we ate it as a form of symbolism.
I just ran across this deviled egg idea.....most people probably have known how to make these cute chicks for a long time....I'm behind the times I think.....just thought there might be others who might like to make something like this.....I'm wondering if it would look neater if the yolks were piped in the eggs with a swirl cone attachment (to a frosting bag).
I made those last year! They are indeed sooo cute! Almost to cute to eat.
This year, as per usual we'll be going to my inlaw's house. We always have Prime Rib and Glazed Ham, salad, rolls, baked beans, some kind of veggies, homemade pies topped with ice cream, and tons of appetizers. I am usually in charge of the appetizers because I love making those. We get there pretty early in the day and just snack on them. I'm not sure yet what I'm making to bring over, so I'm open to ideas!
Its BBQ time ... Working out the menu with BIL/SIL as it's at their house. Thank the Lord.
Some sort of seared animal flesh and lots of sides
OK got the word. Only thing we have to bring is my famous marinated deli style pasta salad.
