I left in 84 (moved a few miles north, then did it again in 2001).......I still like Ft Lauderdale but the reality is you need huge money to live in the nice waterfront areas (Harbor Beach, Las Olas, etc) but then 3 minutes west you are back in the ghetto. Too much traffic/homeless/poor people to seriously consider living there again. Lauderdale is being killed by Dania/Pompano at either end......it is all blending together now...

Yep. But it was sheer heaven back in the day and that's what I like about this thread. Reminds me.

Ooh, anyone remember the Rick and Suds bit about "That's what I like about Boca?"

Hmm, did I already mention this? Well, if I didn't, and even if I did:

"There is no coffee, there's only mocha. And that's what I like about Boca!".

I have really enjoyed this thread. I lived there for a few years in the 90's. It seems like most of the threads on here are negative, and its nice to see some positive, even if the positive was years ago. I moved away for many of the same reasons I have seen on here. I realize now that the last couple years I was there I was so focused on the negative that I couldn't see the positive. Would I live there again? Probably not. But I think it's a beautiful area, and I have some great memories.

Ah, Ft. Lauderdale in the '80s, incredible. Even in the 90s it was still halfway decent. I'd live there again if I had a time machine.

Rick and mike brickyard 1st floor. Yes brickyard and 4:00 club penny lane (where I was a bar tender). That was the best of the 80's, you had to be there!
