That's not "awful winter weather" for Upstate New York-that's just Winter.

Its relentless.

You can imagine how much worse it is than usual if the BosWash is getting it bad.

Texas weather is a disappointing tease. One day promising snow, the next, freezing rain. Gimme snow dammit! None of that icy rain crap!

Today it sucks. You need a Zamboni to drive the streets. The snow totals from the weekend are 8" to 22" (at my house). Temperature is a pleasant 5 above with a windchill of -15. Still have flurries and supposed to get up to another 6"-12" by Thursday. After 60 and 70 degree days in February, winter has arrived in CO. We are the state that Mother Nature plays with.

Yeah, that's what we are getting today. Not snow - snow would be cool. Oh, no. We've got millions of tiny ice pellets and two inches of slushy ice on the roads.

I live at the bottom of a slight hill. At least I have been able to entertain myself by watching vehicles try to make it up or down the hill. I wouldn't really call it DRIVING. It's more like careening and sliding.

It's freaking cold out there too. My dogs are housebroken but even so, they have to go outside occasionally. They have been trying to convince me with their eyes and pitiful looks - "Mom. I PROMISE. I can hold it." No, you can't. I wasn't born yesterday.

Brrrrrrr!!!! At least I know that most of this should be gone tomorrow. I don't know how or why people put up with this sort of bidness for months at a time. I'd be pretty bitter.

Here in eastern MD we have only had one snow. Though I can't stand the cold, if it's going to be cold at least put some snow on the ground to brighten things up. We always get rain.

All this cold weather frikin sucks, as I stated earlier, but for us, when it's super cold, it's usually not with precipitation. those systems seem to usually have enough of a temperature rise by the time they reach us that we get rain. And rain. And more rain. Trust me, cold with rain is just pure miserable and depressing.

We should be in the solid mid 40's during the day with enough 50+ degree days to make doing things outside possible. We can usually go rockfishing (striped bass) right off the coast through the winter. uncommon here are daytime temps below 40 and days below freezing is rare. HOWEVER, this Feb, as well as last Feb those low temps seem more normal. the other day I saw 15 as a high in the day time. Never in my life have I seen that in the day. Yesterday hit the low 40's and it felt like a heat wave, but that was short lived as it is again in the low 30's today. Our back bays are frozen. F'n FROZEN. Salt water FROZEN. It is getting old.

I've already promised my wife that next winter we are going to start being in FL again, even if it means never returning to this arctic wasteland. I'll miss it here but these last couple of winters here have SUCKED and I don't want to be here if this is the new normal.
