You can keep laughing, but that's not going to change your harsh winters.
When I think of "harsh" winter weather, I think of snowstorms, ice storms, blizzards, sleet, dense fog, things that actually impact travel and commerce. We get maybe one or two days an entire winter where weather conditions are truly that bad. For the rest of the winter, it's dry and completely uneventful (and yes, sometimes we have cold snaps, but several thaws, too).
How often does the East Coast get huge storms that dump enormous amounts of snow and cripple or even completely shut down cities this time of year? Now the polar vortex is assaulting Boswash. It seems like winter is far more of a pain out there than it is here, but people who have never been here can't seem to get past the "Oh god, it's 5ºF in Minneapolis! They're all going to die!" hysteria.
How does Phoenix have the worst weather? It only has hot weather 3-4 months of the year, the rest of the year it has great weather. To add on the humidity in Phoenix is slim to none so even if it is 112 in the summer that is still not as miserable as 92 in Houston...trust me I've been to Houston in the summer and it is MUCH worse than Phoenix, I felt like I was in a steam room.
phoenix and houston would be great right now and most of the year, its part of the reason so many people are moving and retiring there, phoenix is 80 and houston is 78.
its been ice and snow in the northeast corridor all weekend with temperatures getting into -10-30s with the wind plus a nice blizzard of a few few feet of snow last month. the fact there are no northeast corridor cities on this poll is pretty big oversight. anybody complaining about seattle or phoenix or houstons weather this winter or any of these cities on this poll should visit the northeast corridor
