Vegas has greatly improved from the 1st time I went, but It was so dramatic the change from the strip to a few blocks in either direction.

Miami is a little better in that it has multiple pockets of glitz. Just not a many as LA.

In terms of cosmopolitan LA takes the cake, then Miami closely followed by Boston.

I am impressed by the racial breakdown of Vegas. It has a balanced racial populace. However the populace is too recent to make enough of a dent on city institutions to have me rank it in the same league as the other cities being mentioned
Yea I noticed this. Every. single. The politician campaign sign I saw the first two times I visited Las Vegas was of a white person.

Every single one.

There's plenty of the Boston area that looks working-class, and no one is confusing it with "posh" and "uppity." This is a good representation of at least where at least 1/3 of where metro Boston lives:

It's functional and stable, but glitzy is about the last word to describe it.

I'm just not sure where this conversation is going.
I would consider all of this glitzy:

I think Boston is a *more* dull city than most. Its very serious.

True about LV and Miami. But I guess no city is all that glitzy. So im just using their city core areas
I was referencing the cosmopolitan nature of the metros.

Boston is on a much higher level of multi ethnical representation than Vegas. Miami too.

The most obvious example is the ethnic mke up of each metro schools. Boston and LA are easily more worldly cities than Miami and especially Vegas

Think of it, as an everyday resident which metro has more connections to the world? Boston may not have the Las Vegas strip, but it's residents are more in touch with the outside world than Vegas.

As a visitor to the strip you see tons of people from all over, but the average resident doesn't live the Las Vegas strip lifestyle.

Boston's cosmopolitanism isn't based off a strip or a tourist area. The city itself is cosmopolitan. You get ideas, culture and food from all over the world throughout the city instead of just in touristy areas.

The Seaport kinda fits this aesthetic. Lots of public art, shiny glass buildings, upscale restaurants and bars, etc.

Encore too, if you think LV is glitzy.

This is also Central Square. Definitely Encore. It's also Copley Place to a tee.

I wouldn't say Atlanta is glitzy but a good portion of the north looks very rich. You can click on the neighborhoods of Buckhead here in this link just to see the varied homes there: https://www.buckhead.com/neighborhoods/ There are so many beautiful homes but that website only shows a small fraction.

I'd say the most "defensive" (and exhausting) posters are the Atlanta people. I agree that Boston and Philadelphia have a brigade though, but a mostly fair and informative bunch.

Anyways, back to the thread...

NYC
LA
Chicago
San Fran
DC
Boston
Philadelphia
Houston
Dallas
Miami
Atlanta
Seattle

Other cities have pockets or facets of what I consider cosmopolitanism, but the above group is undisputable (IMO).
Good list I wouldn't change it at all those would be the
12 Most Cosmopolitan U.S Cities.. Based on Multicultural Diverse by Ethnic groups,Infastructure
Industries,public transportation wealth and class,
Cafes,restaurants clubs,art urban feel. I would change
A little bit if is just based on urban I would of put Seattle and Atlanta above Dallas and Miami Houston a flip a coin.

Seattle is definitely a brainy city and it's urban footprint is more coherent than Dallas. But in terms of being cosmopolitan, Seattle is culturally very reserved, almost brooding, and the city goes to bed before 10PM. Seattle is the Charlie Brown of US cities, IMHO. I'd keep Dallas over Seattle if only because its more youthful, energetic vibe.

I'm not sure what to say about Atlanta, except its full of fake, selfish people chasing dreams, but unwilling to actually put in the work to make those dreams happen. I know that I am painting a large, successful city with a very broad brush, but I work in the entertainment industry and I see what I see.
