Awakening an old thread.....any thoughts an continued indoor smoking after Covid-19? Hand to mouth repetitive movements, hands on equipment, filthy air, questionable cleaning practices?

I'm a libertarian so I'm still in favor of it regardless.

But if it's safe enough for bars to be open at all, I don't think something so minor would make a difference. There is going to be tons of glassware and forks/spoons which people have in their mouths anyway.

I don’t think smoking in an office setting should be allowed. But for bars and restaurants it should be left to the owners discretion. Just my opinion not sure it aligns to any political party

I'm curious if anyone knows a place in the US where people can still smoke like it's the 1970s or a Tarantino movie.

It's a bit of an odd question, but please, let me know, what's the smoker-friendliest place in the country?
Thanks!
We had a couple of friends that were the last smokers we know. Unfortunately, both died of lung cancer last year that was caused by smoking cigarettes. And they were both very intelligent and wealthy men that had not been getting yearly physicals that included chest xrays. When their cancers were discovered, they were both already in State IV and terminal.

I refuse to smell a cigarette because some chemical in them gives me a terrible headache. Cigars and pipe tobacco doesn't bother me at all.

I have noticed that the only people I see smoking now are construction workers and such professions. Those with a history of incarceration are also smokers. Keep them away from me.

I hope your hometown tones down the public smoking after all of this.

Definitely the most miserable thing about Vegas; all the smoking indoors in all of the casino/resorts.

NC is the top tobacco producing state in the country; public smoking hasn't been a thing here in over a decade for which most of us are very grateful.

At this point, even a smoker a block upwind is really annoying. We're not used to that **** anymore.

Please don't come to Washington state.

That's actually my favorite thing about Vegas. That, along with open containers being allowed and no last call for alcohol.

This is very apples and oranges.

Open containers and no last call; sure.....that's ones own prerogative and yes I myself definitely enjoy walking down The Strip with a drink in hand (where liquor can be purchased pretty much anywhere and not just an ABC store!)... No harm no foul and not a major hazard to those around you.

Trying to pass off filling a room full of smoke as a "civil liberty" when it is a huge and widely known health hazard (not to mention nauseating in the moment) to others is ridiculously asinine.

Not the same thing. Not by a long-shot.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree. I'm a strong believer in private property rights (including businesses) as well as freedom of choice. I'm not saying I wish it were like the 80s where people smoked literally everywhere, but as a niche thing with adult oriented businesses like casinos, bars, and brothels, I am very much in favor of it.
