In Raleigh, we see a lot of VA, NY, NJ, MA, MI, OH, PA, FL and CA. In the end, we see a lot of plates from a lot of states since Raleigh's one of the fastest growing cities in America.

In Lexington KY
OHIO
Indiana*
Illinois
Tennessee
Michigan
West Virginia
* Indiana just started adding county tags on their plates. In Lexington it's 90% Indy or NW Indiana, around Louisville it's mostly counties across the river and several Evansville area ones.
I see Hawaii (and Alaska for that matter) plates all the time. I saw a Guam one the other day. Haven't seen Puerto Rico, USVI, or Northern Marianas though...

That's because you live in the middle of the country. I live on the east coast.
In DC I see as been mentioned alot of MD, VA, because they're our neighbors. But I also see PA, NY, NJ, CT, NC, WV, OH, & Diplomat plates all the time.
In Atlanta, GA:
FL, TN, SC, NC, AL, NY, NJ (alot), VA (alot), PA (alot lately) but in Metro Atlanta you can see almost every state represented. Its the reason I love Atlanta so much because no one is from there. Mostly everyone is a transplant. The first question someone asks you is "where are you from?" lol
Been noticing quite a few NC plates too. I am guessing it's people coming back home for a visit since it seems like 1/3 of the people I know have moved down there.
Oh yeah, FL too, but I think they are coming back home for a visit too.
In Charleston, there's a huge amount of OH (it seems like half of Cincinnati and Cleveland vacation here), then NY, NJ, KY (lots of tourists), GA (mostly the counties near Savannah and Atlanta area counties), FL, and NC.
Also, you see a lot of Michigan, and a few ON and QC plates.
