Don Pablo's building would be a good spot for a Mellow Mushroom.
Anybody know if Illianos on Orchard Park Drive is still open? Last time I rode by it looked closed, and there were never a lot of people in there when I went there for lunch last year.

They're not.
I guess they closed at the start of the year? I feel like it wasn't that long since I last ate there. I really loved that place, but my wife didn't share my enthusiasm, so we didn't go as often as I would've liked.
Hamrick's has been open there for a long time. I think it is the first store opened outside Hamrick's home base in Gaffney.
Hamrick's store at Easley Village Shopping Center, 5145 Calhoun Memorial Highway, Easley, South Carolina 29640-3863, likely took customers away.
Seems their customers have been eroding away for sometime with the Eastside store, Spartanburg, Anderson and Easley locations springing up. Their was a time they would have buses of people come from other towns to that WHR store.

Anyone know when that store opened? I know Gaffney was their first store; was this their second store? I remember being dragged to that store by my Grandmother for back to school shopping around 30 years ago so I know it has been there for decades.

I can understand the customer base eroding away as Hamrick's has opened additional stores in emergent trade areas. Its Easley store is newer and shares some of the customer base the White Horse Road store has served.

Town N Country of Easley Incorporated has owned the 10.487-acre site since 1968. I think the shopping center is either Westgate Plaza or Westwood Shopping Center. I know Winn-Dixie (7912 White Horse Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29617-1832) and Revco (7914 White Horse Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29617-1832) had stores here. Winn-Dixie's store was replaced by store 1231 (642 Sulphur Springs Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29617-1622), which was replaced by store 1297 in 1993. Revco closed in the mid-1980's.

I wondered if that Hamrick's had been a Roses or Sky City at one time assuming Winn Dixie was in the spot that is currently Save-a lot.
Ironically that old shopping center has been full recently for the first time in a long time with Family Dollar expanding into the vacant space next door and a furniture rental place next to Hamricks along with Save-a-lot. Now it's losing its main anchor that's been around for years. The outparcel on the corner was cleared of that old gas station and is available as well.

Speaking of Hamrick's, the one in Easley sure has died down. I always drive by and look at the customer parking and it has gotten quiet over there. Just my observation from the road, I did not go inside the store.
