Ah, come on folks! This is just more places for Chinese Buffets to open!!!

I'm kidding of course, but that's what will probably happen to the buildings. Ryans hasn't been good for years. Neither has Golden Corral.

Agree 100%! Really miss Quincy's, could get a good steak dinner for a reasonable price.

I went only once to Ryan's and I was not impressed. The server I had was good though but there was an altercation between the manager and a paying customer, that held the line up for 5 minutes.

If the manager had any sense, he would have pulled the customer to the side or taken him in the office and worked out an issue that no-one wanted to hear about...

I thought the food was gross! I really like Golden Corral much, much better (the one in Easley).

A group of friends and I planned to go to 21 East last week, that is until we learned that it had closed almost a month ago. Web site is still up, but an article in UBJ suggests that it won't be reopening.

Wow, didn't know that. We ate there a year ago and weren't impressed. I ordered chicken and all it came with was a small piece of chicken on the plate and no sides.

I always found the menu to be interesting and creative. Though no official reason has been given for the closing, the business apparently has faced some allegations relating to state ABC laws.

21 East closed indefinitely for undisclosed reasons - Upstate Business Journal

Since that story broke, Ventana Mágica Tacos, the late-night weekend taco window, has also been shuttered. On March 11, owners announced on their Facebook page that they would no longer be operating out of that location and that a new location had not yet been secured. They asked fans to "Please keep checking back for an update on our new spot."

Just got an email that Charleston Cooks is closing its doors:

Quote:
The owner of Charleston Cooks, Dick Elliott, has made the decision to retire from business and we are closing our stores. We are grateful to our customers for 11 years of support. It has been a pleasure serving the Charleston and Greenville communities and the visitors of both of these areas. We are especially thankful for all of the employees who have contributed to building this very special brand over the years.

We will continue to host our cooking classes through April. In an effort to serve our customers at the high standard they are accustomed to, we have canceled and refunded deposits for private events beyond April as staffing could become limited. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our customers.

Customers holding Charleston Cooks gift certificates should redeem them for merchandise in Greenville by Sunday, May 29 and by Tuesday, June 28 in Charleston.

Stay tuned for special sales and promotions as we work to reduce our inventory.

Charleston Cooks Greenville will close on Sunday, May 29 at 6 pm. Charleston Cooks Charleston will close on Tuesday, June 28 at 6 pm

Been figuring it would go eventually since it opened. Wish they had just left it Atlanta Bread Company.

Where are all the "National" retailers" that are supposed to be clamoring to be downtown? While we have a few
like Brook Brothers and Anthropologie we need more more more especially with all the residences coming on line. Where's Lululemon, Urban Outfitters etc.? Step it up!
