New England Seafood only moved. The new location is in the old Back Yard burger location, behind the now closed Rafferty's. Just ate there on Friday. Same good folks, same good food, but much more room.

That's very risky to move so far away from your established client base.

They claimed they closed the Greer location due to not being able to find help. You dont open a new location if you can't find help at an established location that's been open for a few years. It was an excuse made I would think...instead of being honest that they were just moving. Hope they don't really have an issue finding help in their new location.

I was there once...I'm not a fan of fried everything but once in a blue moon so it's not something I'm accustomed too very much. I would much rather travel over to Low Country Shrimper in Mauldin. My friends liked NE but won't be going all the way there to eat, and we're pretty taken back by the way they just closed when the new place opened and the excuse they gave.

They could have had more room for customers by taking over the place next door before someone else when in it.

Guys
For whatever reasons, they made the move. I didn't get a vote on their decision either. I only shared where they have relocated. I too preferred having them located in Greer. I can report personally hearing a number of their incoming customers saying they had driven over from the old location and all of them stuck around to eat. I like their food, so I'll be making the drive to enjoy it, while I can. Hopefully that's for a long time to come.

Likewise - I’ll travel to the new location. I like the lobster rolls and the clam strips remind me of the ones Howard Johnson’s once served.

Bummer Greer lost a good restaurant. That new location has a bad rep ever since BYB shut down. Also no other restaurants around it either (Rafferty's will be a periodontist place).

Best wishes to them for their new location. Meanwhile we'll still wait for good restaurants to open up in Greer...

Also they moved into an area with plenty of seafood competition nearby with Harbor Inn on Haywood and Saltwater Kitchen opening soon at the mall. Will have to try them.

I've never tried New England Seafood but have followed the discussions. Just my 2 cents here - I worked right near their new location (former BYB near Rafferty's) for almost 9 years. That place is an absolute death sentence for restaurants. I wish NES the best, but everything - I mean EVERYTHING that goes into that plaza dies within a year, maybe two at most. The lunch traffic is ok, but there just is no evening traffic on Halton Road.

Again, hope I'm wrong and I certainly need to try them out. I just know the history of that location.
