Enough widespread frost/freeze across the Upstate that NWS will no longer be issuing frost/freeze advisories until spring now. We had frost over everything this AM in Duncan as well as animal waters freeze over a thin layer.

I know I’m 5,000+ miles away but this cold front coming in seems to be the most severe this early that we’ve had in a while. Although I’ve only been a weather nerd for maybe the last 6 or 7 years. I know my Washingtonias will most likely be fried along with my hardy hibiscus, if they aren’t already. They’ll grow back but usually it’s mid December by the time they get cold damage.

It's a healthy front for mid Nov but still a ways away from daily records. Looks like going back to Nov 2014 there were a couple of solid fronts that month; one which resulted in the Nov snow, on the 1st, and another later in the month where GSP had highs/lows of 40/22, 44/18 on the 18th and 19th (also 45/24 on the 15th). So it has been a few years but certainly not that unusual; we've just been jaded by recent warmth!

It was 28 yesterday AM up here in Tigerville. Everything got blasted (except for the collards).

You’re right about November the first. I remember waking up that morning and seeing snow on the west facing part of my house (everything else quickly melted away).

Maybe you’re right, I’m so use to the very mild winters we’ve had and been spoiled by them. As far as weather in North America goes, it’s still astounding how cold air from Canada can travel so far and have relatively little moderation.

Hard to believe that 30 days ago we were in the upper 90’s.

Middle and northern Texas, Dallas- wow. Louisiana is going to get especially violated by that cold air. Crazy to see the highs not even hit the 50’s.
