Our best chances of snow are Dec thru March (per 10yr avg at GSP) so still time for some wintery action.

In the meantime...

Another one of those days again today. 52 at GSP (been low-mid 50s all day), 76 at CAE. Even some 80s showing up near Florence and eastern NC. Some mid 80s parts of GA.

Closest the snow may come until at least end of January:

Interestingly the NWS also says 20% chance of rain or snow in Greenville through 1 am as well....

Looking out a few weeks, it may be a bit cooler in the middle of January, but then warm back up at the end and into the first part of February. I saw a long range forecast of low 60's at the end of the month.

This is my 2nd winter here and it's safe to say coming from Florida the winter season is also our rainy season.

One could certainly think that from the past 3 winters, but it's been atypically wet since Jan 18, and atypically warm. In fact Jan 18 was our last bonafide cold snap. It can also be quite dry some winters, it really depends on a myriad of factors. The past two winters we've had a very fast active southern jet stream coupled with an ongoing ridge in the east and trough in the west. This has led to persistent warm and overly wet conditions. I'm still hopeful we'll see a pattern change to colder, more typical, weather by February but well see. The past 2 Februarys have been off the charts warm so maybe we're due. Really hoping to see a snowfall or two like normal.

I'm rooting and hoping for some snow this winter, but the way this winter has been so far, my expectations are very low. This has been a sad sad winter, rainy and mostly warm. Ugh.
