Yesterday I was doing a final walkthrough of a client's new condo in River Place and just had to snap a few pictures from their balcony. The view is amazing!

That first image is STUNNING! If I had the means, that view alone would sell me on that property! Absolutely spectacular! And the view, will be fun to watch change as the ONE development fills in the gap between Poinsett Plaza and the Landmark building.

I agree! The first picture is the view from their bedroom and I think they will put a desk there. Isn't that awesome?

It's very close but it appears to be safe. Here are the floodplain maps for Greenville:

Floodplain Map

The sections you want to look at are 21, 22, and 33. As you can see, it butts up to the 500 year area but that is it.

Thanks for the link.. it has been my understanding that you could build in certain flood plains as long as you build up above the base flood level. That historic looking factory shell is fine.. because its not occupied.. other types of buildings would have to have a taller foundation/piers or put things like parking garages and other uninhabited facilities on the ground floor. This in addition to providing various flood mitigating tactics...

I am sure the engineers did all of that.. Just curious was there any vocal opposition to building all of these structures next to the river??? Some environmental groups are pretty sensitive about that sort of thing and can tie up projects for years with lawsuits....

Yeah, I'm not sure what the outcry was from the development. It was planned in 1985 and built around 2004. That was well before I came on the scene!

Default Greenville photos (and surrounding)

Here's my Flickr set of photos I've taken during our visit to Greenville in October 2011. The set will continue to grow for a while as I edit and post what I've taken. Have had a great time here and expect to be back in March or April 2012 for another look. Probably at that time we will look more seriously at neighborhoods and possibly specific homes. For this visit it was more important that we get to know the area and the people... and that has been uniformly positive.

Those are great! I look forward to following the new additions! It seems like you all had a pretty comprehensive look at the area.
