I don't care if people fly their little man toys around my neighborhood but I did get upset when this guy down the block hovers hsd drone 15-20ft above my son's head as he's playing in my fenced in backyard. He was up there a good 20 minutes just hovering, watching. I confronted the losers and now they only hover over the other neighbors kids.
If I knew some guy was using a drone to specifically watch small children I would be very concerned. You were right to confront him. The other parents should do the same. Hopefully he is not some sick pedophile taking pictures to share on the internet. Could be innocent... maybe not.
The premise above makes no sense. I am suspect of every part of it. If one wants pictures of children, one does not need a drone, or the attention it will attract, to do it, from 15-20 feet.
Drones are not a secret. They make some noise. particularly that low. Everyone, including the child, would know it's there and would react to it. So.. I say, "cool story bro" Not buying it.

Well we have some neighbors who do want to shoot it down. And I have other neighbors saying why should anyone care, what do you have to hide? My issue is more basic: the guy who is flying the drone just walks down the middle of the street looking up. He almost walked into my car twice when I was driving my kids home from school last spring. It's like, "look in front of you, dude!". This guy is about my age-mid 40's.
They would have loved Germany in the 30s.
How about privacy? Nothing to do with hiding anything.
I have a small DJI quad "drone" and also have a pilot's license.
I have flown a small airplane over my house (legally) to take photos and can see everything I can see with my quad.
Unless you have a very sophisticated quad/drone the view is pretty limited from the camera. I actually fly mine without a memory card most times unless taking photos of clouds or approaching thunderstorms.
I think what bothers people the most with these things is the ability to anonymously "monitor" people with them. While that may happen, trust me when I say most of us flying them aren't really looking at the ground or even specific people, we're just flying them around for fun.
I never gave much thought to drones until one hovered over us for about 30 minutes at a public tennis court.

But that weird buzzing noise and its slight movement in hover that would catch your eye...it felt like it was going to fall on you any moment. I mean, the ahole had it right above our heads...maybe 25 feet up. It was really effin annoying and I wanted to pelt it with a tennis ball.
Now I am not sympathetic towards drone owners. Because I get it. It's really, really annoying.
Drones are cool, though. I think it's a neat way to take pictures of real estate, check out nature, etc. I would just keep them away from people.
Best solution is to launch your own $99 Syma X8 drone up there then FILE complaint (with FAA) against HIM for his $999 drone crashing into yours over YOUR property . . .
You grabbed a drone out of mid-air, out your window.
