Wood stove for Christmas. Finally. It has taken three years to find someone to install a woodstove. Wait on the contractor's schedule, wait for the stove to be made, wait for parts, and wait for the building inspector.

The building inspector signed off on Friday, I conditioned the paint yesterday, and today the stove is burning bright and heating the house.

Kuma stove, made just around the corner from us, and it sure is a good one. Really easy to light, draws well, puts out the heat, and looks good.

Still waiting for a stone mason to extend the hearth in front of it. Right now, there is a cement backer board on the floor in front of the stove to catch any sparks that fly.

Thanks, Nowhereman! I hope everybody had/is having a good Christmas in the current deep freezer. Our Xmas tree will stay up until Twelfth Night (Jan.6), family tradition. We'll keep our outside lights on through New Year's, and scale them back until Jan.6.

Yay Kuma! That's what we've got. It heats up the whole house for us, and stays lit all night. (Not that we're actually there right now, but we know it will work for us.) It is amazing. And we're also waiting for someone to please build us a slate platform, and the stove is standing on a cement backer board!
