The border was supposed to be "secured" right after the 1986 amnesty. Guess not.

I'm not blaming those recent crimes on the most recent administration. They are the kind that would, and will, happen even with what we would call a "secure" border. ) There's been too many before this who never tackled the issue.

This is true. Reagan gave blanket amnesty to illegals, W tried to push amnesty and McCain also tried to push amnesty through congress. We should be thanking the heavens Obama is in office now as if McCain was we'd have comprehensive immigration reform, outright blanket amnesty.
Historically it's the republicans that have been the illegal's best friends.

Once again, just because we made mistakes in the past does not justify repeating those same mistakes. It doesn't matter who did it or what party they belonged to. What matters is learning from them and never repeating them again.
But you brought up Reagan so lets role with that. Part of the amnesty deal was that congress was supposed to finance border security. A democrat majority congress. The same that wrote the bill. The same who never followed through on their obligation.
Once again this is not a partican issue. Both party's have had their hand in this problem like just about all the other problems we face today.

Likewise, it is “supposed” to be secured if we only grant another amnesty. In fact, according to some, it is impossible to secure our borders unless we legalize those already here.

Yep, another amnesty, like the previous amnesty, will solve all of our illegal immigration problems.

I struggle with the excuse we can't secure the border without first legalizing those already here.
What does 1 have to do with the other???? Do we intend to use them as border guards and by law they must be legal residents or citizens?
LOL the pro-side kills me with their lame excuses.

Me too. They must think we are idiots with a second grade education to not see through what they are up to. At least they should come up with some arguments that make some kind of sense.

What fear mongoring? The facts speak for themselves. How does wanting our immigration laws enforced while still allowiing in 1.5 legal immigrants translate to "hyper patriotism" or "extremism"?

Our policies are fine. It is our laws that aren't being enforced properly. The emotion is on the pro-illegal side not on the anti side. It is "us vs them" in regards to illegal aliens and well it should be.

We must make our voices heard. We should email/call/write our congressmen and demand they enforce our laws and that they block all of the attempts by Obama to weaken the laws and find ways to help the illegals without dealing with their crimes first....
