ATLANTA – Eight young illegal immigrants were arrested Tuesday for sitting in the middle of a busy street in front of the Georgia Capitol, protesting their lack of access to higher education in a scene reminiscent of civil rights demonstrations decades ago.
The group, made up of mostly students, believe their plight is similar to movement the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. led, and they met with former activists from the 1960s to hash out their civil disobedience plan.
Their "plight" is not similar to the movement that MLK led. Blacks being discriminated against were citizens, illegal aliens are not and in fact are here in violation of our immigration laws.
MLK seems to have become the fallback for any group that claims they are "oppressed", even when they are blatant law breakers like in this case.
How true! Today, it seems every “cause” is similar to the Civil Rights Movement, and every group is being compared to black Americans. Not only do DREAMies compare their plight to that of black Americans during Jim Crow, but also during slavery. It’s nauseating. The only way illegal aliens could have a valid comparison, would be if they returned home and fought for change. Otherwise, they are simply criminals seeking rewards for violating our laws.
The Rev. Timothy McDonald was one of the activists who met with the students at Ebenezer Baptist Church in the room where King and other preachers founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the organization that led the movement for equality and justice for blacks.
"We felt the connection," McDonald said. "We pointed out that there has never been a successful movement of any kind without young people, and that was especially true of the civil rights movement. It was the students who filled up the jails, not the preachers."

It is nothing new for an African-American minister like me to look at Scripture and perceive that something is amiss in our society. That was Martin Luther King Jr.'s story. King dared to read Scripture and proclaim God gave all people the dignity and intelligence to choose which bus seat was right for them, even in Alabama. King's vision included more than justice for black folk. His vision included all God's children, red and yellow, black and white.
Where is all the Black-Latino striffe...? Why arent black folk up in arms that illegal aliens students are adopting The Most Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s non-violent protest methods?

Please don’t delude yourself into believing black folks are not outraged when illegals dare compare themselves to the plight of black Americans. There is no similarity between the two. It is an affront for scofflaws to attach the name of Dr. King to their lawlessness. Furthermore, your quote is simply the opinion of ONE minister. He is certainly not the “black” spokesperson.

Indeed. And they could at least thank Americans for paying for their education (and who knows what else) but no, they are demanding more.
Why are they trying to hijack everything blacks did?
Black people are American citizens illegals are not.
They don't share the same American history, heritage, etc...
