if we were able to process people in under a week, do you honestly think people would risk criminal status to save a couple days?
if we had a quick, legal process, employers would have less propencity to hire illegals, because there would be fewer, and we could easily militarize our borders to really dissuade people from crossing illegally, seeing as they would have a truly fair way of getting into the country.
ghost.....though i do understand your sentiment, i question one thing.....do you really think that you can prove a persons character in a week?
would you open the doors to anyone? give away your country to anyone who wanted it, regardless of the reasons?
not me.....proof is needed, and if someone really wants to come, they'll be willing to do it the way they are required to do it.

Hmmmm I don't know I would vote for giving away your country to anyone who wanted it, but if he has evil intentions and commits evil acts he should be subject to laws and have a fair trial.
Note that I said, evil acts, acts that really do harm, some laws are just plain stupid imho, like a law in texas that can get you arrested for sleeping with your boots on!
that's what I said, evil acts and not violation of the laws, great people have said that if a law is unfair we should fight it like Gandhi
Quote:
"I do not deny that I am breaking the law " ,Gandhi said in the courtroom. "It is my duty to India and to Great Britain not to co-operate with unfair laws, .
But you're being so NEGATIVE---all these things would be INTERESTING, don't you think?....and, as I'm sure someone will soon say, we ALREADY have rapists. murderers, child molesters, etc., so what's wrong with a few more?...
love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you kill me, macmeal!!!!!!!!!!!!! kudos to you.
we already have all of those, domestically. we will inherit more with legal immigrants, as well.
they are universal social problems. not illegal problems.
terrorism hasnt been a problem, disease is a problem regardless (id rather have tb than hiv), crime is an ongoing problem regardless... it will not be stopped with full deportation. drug dealers will go away when drugs are legalized and handled as a health issue rather than a crime. prostitution is similar. if it was legalized, it would be similar to porn. pure entertainment without the mystery of disease or the fear of being criminalized. it works in amsterdam..
your open season is ridiculous. i just single-handedly provided you with solutions to every problem that requires no deportation or criminalization of immigrants.
terrorism has not been a problem with illegal immigration?????????
are you really serious?
i'd love to be a fly on the wall when you tell the family members of 9-11 that.
Dear vivski, always speaking with the voice of reason
God Bless
thanks travelling fella...you are a light........i respect your willingness to make your country a better place. and in the same breath, concerned for mine.
i hope you understand why i want mine safe, and pray for yours, too..

This part sounds MEAN and SELFISH...
macmeal.......i love your sarcasm, though it took me time to understand it fully....hope you dont take too many asprin....they can make you sick ...y'know.
ghost.....though i do understand your sentiment, i question one thing.....do you really think that you can prove a persons character in a week?
i dont think we judge character, regardless. the 9/11 hijackers had visas.... a simple background check could be one of the few requirements to immigrate. another could be a health screening. either one is able to be completed in the course of a week. once they are in the country, they could be subject to the same due process as the rest of us.

yes, i would open the doors to anyone. and i dont look at it as giving it away. i look at it as cultural expansion and evolution. sharing is caring.

the long wait times are not necessary to establish "proof". especially if we set up a more efficient system. have an interpol database, and an on-site blood testing lab. background check and health screen, within a week.

19 people out of 7-20,000,000 is not a problem. if cigarettes had the same mortality rate, they wouldnt even be considered a health risk.
