virg1123, don't let your fear of being "a sucker" to the panhandlers sway you from moving to Vegas. Once you move, you'll spend the first week feeling sorry for a lot of people. Then you'll get used to it very quickly.

If it does you're not strong enough to move here. This town chews up the weak and spits them out.

You are right...I am a very strong person..that being said...I am coming to Vegas.. I will learn quickly to say NO....I work hard for a living and need to take care of my needs first...right....Stay cool today and this weekend. The Weather Channel is all over Vegas with your heatwave...Help keep me positive..Living here in a small town Iowa..most folks don't encourage my move to "VEGAS"...

It's not a big deal. At the intersections just keep your windows up. I drive a convertible with the top down all the time and they don't bother you.

The ones outside the convenience stores/coffee shops simply say "sorry" as you walk by. You don't owe any explanation and I've never seen one press the issue. They hear "no" 1,000 times a day. You're not the first one to tell them no.

As mentioned after about a week it becomes second nature.

As soon as they look at me or come to my car I tell them no or shake my head no. I keep seeing the same older lady in various parking lots begging for change with different stories. They have no shame staring right in your window or trying to get you to roll down your window. I'm really getting sick of it and wish people would stop giving them money-Let them go to shelters for help.
I live off Lake North right in the middle of those intersections. I travel those intersections several times a day. You're right that area is terrible. I know the lady, the young guy with the brown hair and the old skinny guy whose sign say he has Cancer. When we first moved here it made me feel a little uncomfortable when they stare in the window. I drive a convertible with the top down most days and now I stare right at them stone face as they walk by. They have no right to make people feel uncomfortable simply driving down the road.

I'm a little surprised the cops don't do anything as they walk right out into traffic when the light is red. It's got to be technically illegal. Than again, they bust them and then what? No money to pay a fine and their right back out doing it again the next day.

If you want rude aggressive beggars, try Denver! LV has nowhere near as many. The LV beggars are pretty meek compared as well.

Tonight I saw a homeless man drinking from a bottle of Graygoose while standing on the walkway from Wynn to Venetian. He was telling the street musician that a tourist gave him $40 to buy a meal and he bought the bottle instead.

That person who suggest that you should be ready to give them 20 bucks next time is not a traditional and polite beggar...They are a pig....pigs are never satisfied.

I was on business there in April (stayed near 16th St Mall) and can attest to that! We must have been hit up 8 times in 30 minutes, too.
