Don't know about the speed boat as Nevada is one giant desert. There are lakes and waterbodies but down there in that part of Nevada it gets HOT. I would be more concerned about the scorpions and snakes.

It does get HOT there, but numerous seniors live there. It's sort of like winter here in northern Colorado, just have to adjust to the below zero temps and the snowfall. And, we've seen a lot of both!

Living out in the really cactus/desert area, I'd worry about scorpions/snakes, but not nearly as much as living where we will be or where our boat is.

It is hot here in the Valley right now. So often on Mondays and Fridays we take a 45 minute drive from Hendo to Mt. Charleston and picnic and hike in weather that/s 20-30 degrees cooler. Last Friday we hiked in 78 degree weather while it was 100+ down below. And if we’re in the mood, we can go down to the strip where the casinos are chilly. Many of us enjoy the first run $4 movies for seniors at the Cinemark theatre at the South Point. And, if one resides in a 55+ community, there’s aways clubs and exercise facilities to keep busy during the day with friends at a/c’d community centers…. The City of Hendo also has a senior community center (but don’t know what that’s like)

We also do short trips to San Diego, Los Angeles and Flagstaff all reasonable drives. A longer drive, we’ll be at Lake Tahoe for several days later this month, also we like spending a little time hiking in the Ruby Mountains near Elko….

Well, don't know how old of a senior you are, but we are both early Baby Boomers, being that my wife was born in 1948 and myself in 1949. IOW, we are 74/75. The only recreation we do is using our boat, going to a casino to hit a few slot machines and that's about it. For us, watching a pro rodeo on the Cowboy Channel is pure fun. Neither of us get a pension and there is absolutely no way that we could afford a 55+ community to live in. There are seniors that get a very nice pension each month, then there are those that don't get one at all. The ones that get it, can most definitely do things that ones that don't get it can.

Currently my wife works as a Temp (at-home job) Monday thru Friday, so very little, if any, overnight travel is done.

Like you, we are ‘49er’s! A nice drive up to Mt. Charleston on a hot day is very popular! $4 first run movies at the South Point, and the Henderson senior centers are all cheap, fun things to do! https://www.cityofhenderson.com/gove...ies/50-centers. You can also eat free at the senior recreation centers ($2.50 donation is also requested but not required) https://www.cityofhenderson.com/home...57957752300000

The major problem, like we have now, is meeting folks that like rodeo as much as we do. Neither of our families are into rodeo at all. We love it, most likely because I use to do it (rope) back in the 80's/90's and help stock contractors. We also love to watch Cutting and Reining competitions, like there is at South Point.

Perhaps we might (big word "might") meet some seniors our age, or possibly a little younger, that like boating and may some fishing like we do.

We won't join anything that has only men or only women in it. We do most everything together............like 90% of things.

But, we wanted to live close to casinos. And, there are those that live in Mesquite and Fort Worth that will say neither city is nearly as "western/rodeo" related as it use to be. We have seen this in parts of Wyoming we've been in.

Well that changed. For awhile you didn't want to live close to casinos.

Live close to the casinos? Is the food that good?
