In a statement, Schumer's office said the bill of rights would be "similar to a passenger's bill of rights established for the airline industry, to provide baseline protections for passengers of Long Island 's commuter rail system." Specifics were not released and it was unclear whether such rules would be mandated or require state legislative action.
Soooo ... what would you like to see on a LIRR rider bill of rights?
I know it'll probably cost us more (ugh), but we need an alternate means of transportation if the rail system goes down. It's BS that if it goes down, you have half a million people stranded in NYC.
NJ commuters have the train (amtrak/NJT), path & bus service... if anything, why doesn't the LIRR ever provide bus service into/out of the city?
The right to a clean, litter free, eating free, drinking free car that doesn't smell like the local gin mill.
