Yes, it has little to do with it. Rich blacks commit more crime than poor whites. West Virginia is poor as dirt (and mostly white) and has a far lower violent crime rate than your average diverse city. And how does poverty explain the vastly disproportionate rate of black on white rape? It's not like they're just stealing bread.
My family is from Argentina so spare me the white male line. You're on the right track here - there are a lot of people struggling, and those lucrative manufacturing jobs that built the middle class are overseas now. I'd like to see that fixed. But that has zero to do with whether wealthy areas need to be force fed poor folks that can't afford the sticker price.
But I always prefer to side with people who likely socialize with neonazis. Same as I like to trust everything on the History channel because it has history right in the name. Similarly nothing shown on Ancient Aliens is bias at all.
Lots of arguments being made and not much to add. One question, though: Why do black families believe that sitting next to a white kid in the classroom will make their kids 'better off'? If there was an outward program to this effect, where black families were forced to move to white neighborhoods or in homes with white families, wouldn't there be an outcry? Isn't it insulting to believe that you, as a black person, need whites around you to show you how to be 'better'? Wasn't there a heinous program years ago to remove Native American children from their homes so they could live with whites and be 'better'? Why do largely black communities feel things will be 'better' for them if the white man leads the way? Why not just take every black child born and put them with a white family so they can grow up 'white' and 'better'?
When you think of this kind of paternalism, it is insulting; or at least it should be.

Often, friends & peers drive you. Bad kids will influence others the same way good kids can influence others. So which is better, according to data?
