I know if I’m not very familiar with a area then I just don’t comment on it.
But still....spending almost a million to live in some of these places....is a little ridic. Generally places on LI have gotten worse not better, so if you had some familiarity with an area then not much has changed most likely. As for Oceanside, that's a place I would never in a million years spend that kind of money to live. Ever.

I’ve lived in Baldwin (as well as various other towns on LI) & I will say that the ppl there are great, really care about the town & have a vested interest in improving it.

I would much prefer a Baldwin over Oceanside, even though Oceanside is more aesthetically pleasing, I think the location sucks and it’s so congested in that area. Oceanside is not close any parkway or any main road other than Long Beach Rd, Austin & Lawson. It feels kinda trapped.

Right on queue. What about Oceanside would compel you to give that opinion?

I'm with Twingles. Oceanside? Gateway to Long Beach, lol?! Congested, ugly and un-gentrifying by the day. A million plus taxes?! Maybe if directly on the water and that's not happening for less than $2-3m, maybe find something on a canal for $2m. Maybe.

This is from someone who grew up in Oceanside... one day it seems like everyone just decided that they're Merrick... but without the nice houses, waterfront views, access to the parkways, a convenient train branch, downtown, or political and financial influence.

I agree on not spending $1mil anywhere on the south shore and definitely not, anywhere in the center of the Island, coast to coast.

You’re wrong about waterfront Oceanside homes. You can get a beauty for 1mil in Oceanside.

I grew up one town over. There are nice house but, just like Merrick, most are POS development houses. Oceanside doesn’t have waterfront views? South Merrick has just as bad if not worse access to parkways. The train line is much better than most of Long Island. Oceanside has RVC very close by besides their wide variety of shopping. As for political influence, I’d say Oceanside has a lot of attention by ToH officials.

That's what I've never liked about it. Now Baldwin I don't know anything about so won't comment on it. But you hit the nail with Oceanside.

I agree with everything jdawg said.

It's "cue" not "queue" (a "queue" is a line "I was waiting in the queue").
