For the heck of it I browsed some recent job postings and it seems a lot of the Bos/Cam based companies specifically are saying the roles are hybrid with 3 days min per week on site. I haven't really seen any that say fully remote or any less than a min of 3 days per week on site.

Attrition due to required RTO is much less of a worry with all the layoffs in the news, fear of job loss, and all companies moving in the same direction.

Companies are starting to conclude that people are at best equally productive working from home, but more often than not less productive. Even if someone is wasting time chatting it up at work, it's arguably more culture building compared to someone running an errand at home.

I don't want to work at a company that is that obsessed with culture building. It's BS and once you get to a certain age you are very much over it.

Just the opposite but it's too popular to pull the rug without an economic crash. Despite all the layoff talk you've been hearing about, the number of people drawing unemployment hasn't moved much.

We are tied to the consumer market, and our orders have been ticking upwards steadily. Nothing earth-shattering yet, but what I've seen seems to indicate a bottom was reached for our industry.

Of course that may not mean much in the grand scheme of things, but for many folks here it alleviates layoff concerns for many.

Agree...it's all smoke and mirrors.

Embarking on a little research and if it lands me a higher paying/new job in the process so be it. For the heck of it I started applying to jobs as I'm curious if all the stats I've been reading are accurate....like does it really take 10-12 apps to land one interview? So far what I can share that may be helpful to anyone job searching is I've probably applied to 11 positions, all in MA, during the last 3 weeks. I've gotten a request for one interview so far and it was for one of the first positions I applied for about 3 weeks ago. So, don't get discouraged folks.....from what I can see it can take a couple weeks after you apply for your application to make its way thru the hr system. Job was advertised as hybrid. During my call I found out that it would require 3 days on site...there seemed to be no wiggle room to the min required days on site. Salary was on the lower end of what I'd expect for the level of the particular position but recruiter was promoting the RSU's as a benefit. I'll update any additional insight I gain from this process accordingly.

Looks like Boston will have to get serious about RTO soon enough.

Nah! Suburban dwelling, white collar workers have their own communities and governments to support. The real solution for this issue is trimming the fat from the Boston city budget.
