All I have to say is "Goodnight Irene".

If we seem some good wind gusts we'll be lucky. We've probably already had some worse storms this summer than what Irene's going to be here.

Nice. That was my first major hurricane, (I just don't count Katrina in FL...it was nothing, really), and it was a little scary but fricken cool as hell, too.

I loved it!

I remember I had my Gilligan radio on and people were talking about cars flipped over just blocks from where I lived. My car was nailed by an awning and the emblem on the back flew off as well as the passenger side mirror that was street side. The building I was in sustained roof and ceiling damage but overall, it was easy to get back to it. Boss gave us a week off, the weather was fantastic right after and I just enjoyed sitting in my living room, eating my dinner by candlelight and listening to the people talking on the radio about how things were where they were.

Nature is so much more powerful than we will ever be and that is why I love it.

Actually, special advisory at 11pm. Storm has shifted a bit farther west than expected and is still traveling NW. If it looks like it will hit 77W, we might get TS warnings at 11pm.

It could be very nasty if the storm turns towards us in the middle of the night, it will bearing down on us by mid-morning. It's kinda freaky knowing a Cat3. hurricane is so close to us, the eye of the storm is just 350 miles from Miami, just check the latest satellite imagery.

I am not too worried. But yes a TS storm warning is possible. And I expect TS conditions periodically through the day but just a bit worse then some of our usual afternoon storms.

11pm: No changes, 120mph winds. Looks like eyewall replacement coming with the turn north so dont expect it to get much stronger while over the Bahamas which is a good thing. Just about every model has it riding up the coast ending in the Boston area as a Cat-1. Never seen so many models agree like this before! NC-Maine will feel serious effects from this Storm it looks like.

Ok, I will let you have an arm of the storm, but that's it.

I doubt we would be that lucky, but there are still 8 weeks of potential hurricane fun!
