Lol are you kidding? Just because you say certain things doesn't mean people will believe it no matter how many times you say it. You do understand that I was following your compadres criteria?

The list you are defending is going by Ancestry, I went by foreign born. D.C. is clearly diverse, Miami is not.

Miami defenders need to Google the word "diversity" to look up the true meaning of the word. Miami is not that diverse. Just because somewhere is predominantly Latin rather than "American" doesn't make it diverse. Aside from Miami Beach, drive around Miami and show me where this so called diversity is. I see no Russian community, no Chinatown, no Irish, no Italians. The only languages (other than English) you'll hear are Spanish and Spanglish.

Overall I think the diversity in South Florida is spread out. It's not just in one general city but spread out through the whole MSA. For example, you might not find any Jews in the actual City of Miami, but you can go right across Biscayne Bay to Miami Beach and find tons of em. Go to Boca Raton and find Italians, go to Sunny Isle Beach and find Russians, etc. etc. etc.

Guess you never been to Miami? How about Haitian Creole it is the 3rd offcial language of the County Government, you can even vote in Haitain Creole. You will hear French, Italian or Russian all over the city. and of course Portuguees there is a large population of people from Brazil. Please to say its only Spanish is absolute rubish.

Dear Lord.

OK. Miami is, as a matter of fact, diverse. It's not like another country, no. But there are a mixture of a lot of different nationalities & cultures there. It has nothing to do with what language is most commonly spoken or what people there look like or which forign restaurants are there or ...

It all depends on cultures. Cuban, Hation, Mexican, Spanish, (in shorter terms: Latin.) There's also African American (decendants of the Florida slaves,) British, Asian, & so on. There's also American haritage in there too. Miami is @ the extreme tip edge of the country, which over the years has lead more & more types of families to either escape their lives in their home country for a better American life, or just to fit in with everyone else.

Miami is more Latin than anything else, though.

Jessie

Let me get this straight. Because Miami has a very high amount of hispanics, it isn't a truly "American" city? This is a great example of the subtle racism that is sadly alive and growing today. Listen, I understand that a lot of people from Miami are foreign born, but it is the same way with New York City, and I don't hear anybody asking if that's "American".

LOL dude, I live here. I don't hear those languages you describe - not even Creole. I have zero problem with Spanish BTW, before you get all bent out of shape. It's a beautiful language and one I'd be more inclined to learn if the locals weren't such *******s.

No, it's not spread out at all. The diversity is limited to certain places (Miami Beach, Aventura for example). I dare you to tell me that places like Kendall, Hialeah and even Coral Gables (where most people live) are diverse, in the sense of being multicultural.

New York is a proper, textbook diverse city and melting pot. As much as Miamians would refuse to admit, Miami is not.

LA is predominantly Hispanic, as diverse as NY is, it's predominantly white(moslty Italian ancestry, heck the whole borough of Staten is Italian), Philly predominantly black in most areas, DC, predominant black in most areas.
