Sprawl in the "New South" is absolutely dreadful, including that of "nice" areas like Cary and Alpharetta. Don't get me wrong, there's dreadful sprawl all over Florida as well, but South Florida has a much lower percentage of it than outside of Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh...

With that said, Asheville is pretty centralized and is mostly non-sprawl. There's a huge difference between downtown Asheville and the other areas I have mentioned.

I find those houses in Raleigh tacky as hell.
They remind me of a doll's house.

The houses in Hialeah? No thanks lol. I had to live in Hialeah for about 6 months and swore I would never go back. So far I have kept to that promise lol. Different strokes and all that.

The second one is nice-looking and doesn't look mass-produced. The other two are not my cup of tea. This is how much of suburban NC looks: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...11.54,,0,-3.34 and http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...6&z=16&iwloc=A

Post 1960's Hispanics have a habit of eradicating vegitation in Miami. Hence, Hialeah, Sweetwater, Westchester, Flagler, and West Miami, as well as Doral. That review of Doral by Forbes was lucicrous.

We could both get into a picture race on here, but I trust that you know what I'm talking about. The "newer the area", you will hear less English spoken and see fewer trees (as well as more cars parked in the front lawn).
It is true. Hispanics have a tendency of cutting down trees. I usually joke with my out of state relatives when they come to Miami and see the lack of trees. I tell them that we cut them down because of we don't want "el coco" to hide behind them. Coral Gables without the trees looks like Hialeah.

No, it doesn't. Coral Gables is full of 1920's-1940's historic Mediterranean revival homes. Hialeah is full of 1950's-1990's standard Florida-style homes. It is architecturally non-descript and could be Tampa, Orlando, other parts of South Florida, minus some of the Hispanic population and plus a few more trees.

There's a huge difference between downtown Asheville and the rest of Ashville.

Suburban Raleigh, NC has a surprising lack of trees! You think many Cubans and other hispanics live in this particular part of town? What's next burglar bars and concrete driveways?
