Bydand,
One thing you need to watch for is deer crossing the roads at night.
Like I said, I don't live in Mi. anymore but the last time I visited I was diving up from Ohio on I-131 on my way to my hometown(Cadillac).
The further north I got the more deer there were lying along the highway.
I went to see a school buddy in South Boardman.
His wife had a Monte Carlo and the front end was pushed halfway back to the windshield after hitting a deer.

BTW. Michiganders:
Does your auto insurance cover this or do you have to pay extra premiums or provisions for "wildlife/natural" damages or what ever it's called.?

Oh I know! I have lived in West Michigan and the UP for most of my life, the deer are EVERYWHERE! Right after I moved back to the Ludington area, I was going into town for a pizza with a lifelong friend and there was a deer standing on the side of the road. I hardly even blinked, and my friend asked if I had seen it, I mentioned I did and when he asked why I didn't do anything really, I had to start laughing. After spending a few years in Northern Maine and having Moose standing on the roads every week, a deer looked like the same size as a dog. Had to readjust my thinking. All a matter of perspective I guess. 225# deer - 1300# Moose.

I've was in 3 accidents when I lived in Ca. I rolled my truck part way down a mountain in one of them. All three I walk away with out a scratch.
On my way up to Mackinaw City I almost hit a deer that came out of no where. Now that scared the sh*t out of me.

I read that the Elk and Moose in Northern Michigan are depleating because of ticks. Hundereds of ticks at one time draw more blood that their heart can replace.

Anyone in Marquette a few years back when that moose wandered into town and set up shop in the cemetery in the middle of town for a few weeks? He'd come wandering out of the city woods to the pond to drink every night. People would be waiting for him.

Another moose came through smashing windows on 3rd Street I think a year or two ago.

Ah, I love it. Moose, wolves - so good to see them coming back.

Here it is,
This happened while they were hanging the wires. The wires caught the antlers and pulled him up.

Deer are almost an infestation. We have them in our yard regularly, especially in the morning. Gardening is almost impossible here. that is ok I would rather have the deer. Less work.

4WD Greg is on a distinguished road
Default Yes, we have lots of wildlife

Deer seem to be just about everywhere. I saw a bobcat up near the Mackinac bridge a couple of years ago. Black bear are pretty plentiful in the upper 1/3 of the lower peninsula, and throughout the U.P. We have cougar sightings on a pretty regular basis along the rivers in the lower peninsula, although I bet you can count the total population on the fingers of one hand, maybe two. The U.P. would have a larger population of Cougars. They have moose up there too! We have a pretty big elk population in the Gaylord area. Wild turkeys are growing in population from the U.P. all the way down south to Jackson.

Well I live in Grand Rapids and a Black Bear was actually somehow found on the East Beltline... which is a very busy and popular street right by a mall.... no clue how it got there but it did! lol
