You probably mean Fisherman's Island State park? Is that an older picture or recent of it? I was there about 3 years ago and there was a lot more shore exposed as the water was quite low. Has it come back that much recently?

Yes, Michigan has some great places for a fraction of the cost of travelling or staying anywhere else. Also, without the wall-to-wall people (unless you're on Mackinaw Island mid-summer).
