Until recently, some posters (cough) kept saying that crime isn't so bad because "Murderapolis" in the early 90s was worse. Well, guess what? "Murderapolis" is back.

From Axios:
"In Minneapolis, the homicide count has reached 91 this year, according to Minneapolis Police Department data. The previous record is 96, set in 1995."

St. Paul has already broke its all time record this year!

Anyone want to take a 'stab' (lol) at some mental gymnastics to prove its "not that bad?"

I don’t think anyone is disputing that there has been an increase in crime in most places in the country since the beginning of the pandemic shutdowns, are they? Minneapolis is not the exception here.

I’m pretty confident that Minneapolis is still safer in 2021 than it was in 1995 when comparing violent crime statistics.

A lady I’ve known my entire life who’s in her late 70’s to early 80’s was assaulted in a Walgreens parking on border of Roseville and St Paul December 23rd. Someone tried stealing her purse that she tried to prevent happening, she hit her head on pavement and knocked unconscious. Had brain bleeding lead to vertigo which caused her to fall in hospital bathroom where she broke her pelvis. The Walgreens was walking distance to her nice 55+ housing complex. This is really sad, I told my parents who know her way better then me, you are the targeted now.

Actually, Cruz, the crime wave started not during the great lockdown of March 2020, but rather after the great Minneapolis Floyd riots of June 2020. Key distinction there.

Also worth noting the US is the only place that saw an increase in crime in 2020. The rest of the world sat quietly and obediently as they watched cities burn in the name of the new religion of wokeness.

I imagine this was a factor. However, your theory wouldn’t explain the increase in violent crime that the US experienced in the first half of 2020 which predated George Floyd.

The lady I spoke about made the news. I see it was an attempted purse snatching that led to her injuries, not that she was attacked. She’s a very stubborn grew up on a Nebraska farm.

Name me another city where multiple carjackings and 30 round clips emptied out full auto on every other street corner started being a daily occurrence in 2020. Also, name me another previously safe city where murder rate has tripled. Go ahead, I'll wait.

Newsflash - nationwide steep increase in violent crime started after the St Floyd loot'n'burn party, not after covid lockdown.

Yes and it went mad after the big pay out that should have never happened.

It went completely insane after chauvin got murder 2 instead of well-deserved manslaughter and will get even worse now that potter got lynched. Local thugs were given a clear message they can do as they please and cops will not interfere, I wouldn't be surprised if murders go into 200s in 2022 assuming woke lynch mobs are left in charge.

I think the lockdown drastically worsened what happened.
