Add me to the ‘anything with Tom Hanks in it’ list. He’s great in everything.
I think Liam Neeson (Schindler's List) should have won among the the 1993 performances (awarded in 1994) rather than Tom Hanks for Philadelphia......but I think Tom Hanks should have won for the nominated 2000 performances for Cast Away, rather than Russell Crowe winning for Gladiator.
I'll throw in Brando for Apocalypse Now. Really slow movie at times, especially the Director's Cut (do not waste your time with that version), but worth it for Brando's performance.

I’ll bet that was a hard decision that year, 1994, because both actors gave stellar performances. Too bad it couldn’t have been a tie.
I watch almost anything that stars Dame Judy Dench. She always gives such amazing performances that you don't feel she is acting at all but just a natural for that role.
I saw Philomena because of her being in that film. Fantastic understated acting. Much better than some of others that have won Oscars for best actresses.
I read somewhere that Kubrick had him in mind prior to the screenwriting process and would not have made the movie without him.
