Is there a movie you watch, maybe a particular scene, just to see an outstanding performance by an actor/actress ?

I started thinking about certain movies I find myself watching just to see a certain actor/actress in a role.

Anytime House of Gucci is on I stop to see Lady Gaga I think she is excellent in this role. Does a great job really captures my attention. That doesn't always happen when I watch a movie.

The other movie is Casino both Joe Pesci and Sharon Stone excellent. I don't really notice the other actors because they run away with the movie.

Wall Street Michael Douglas really captures my attention. He always gives a solid performance one of my favorite actors. Again don't really notice anyone else, however, Charle Sheen is great in this, too.

As Good as it Gets - Jack Nickolson, Helen Hunt, Greg Kinear - they all capture my attention because they're all so intense and messed up in different ways and it's powerful and beautifully written how these three people all help each other.

I know there's more movies I will watch certain scenes to only see a particular actor. I really appreciate the talent !

Al Pacino in Glengarry Glen Ross. I don't like liars, cheats, and sneaks, but that performance of his was remarkable.

For many years now, I watch movies as much or more for the acting than the storyline. Most recently I watched Daddy and Them. To me it was a nothingburger movie, but there were a bunch of major stars in it and the acting was really good.

And Alec Baldwin—simply stellar at instantly capturing the attention away from every other great actor in the scene

Hard to watch “Glengarry Glen Ross” because of the sadness

There are many movies where the performance of an actor is the best part of the film. Peter O'Toole in "My Favorite Year" is a treat to watch. Gene Wilder, Robin Williams, the list goes on and on.

This goes back to a post I made about intelligence factoring in to excellent acting ability.

I was watching a YouTube video this morning about the life and career of Yvonne DeCarlo. Clearly, she had the smarts and talent to be able to make a great career for herself - often against great odds. Loved seeing the clips that showed her talent waaay prior to The Munsters. Her intelligence jumped off the screen in many of those clips. I find old time movies too melodramatic for my taste, or I'd watch more of them. I'm sure I'm missing out on some excellent acting.

Gene Hackman in just about everything. Usually when he's in a scene he just takes over, very powerful presence, great voice.
