Why does Superman Returns pick up from Superman II when only five or six years had passed in the story, but twenty-six years had lapsed between both films? Because they wrote it that way.

That sort of thing usually denotes the final nail in the pine box. i.e., coffin of the franchise.
Was it an entertaining film?
Of the 4 Indy movies, where would 'you' place it. Is it at least better than the third installment (which I truly disliked).
Went to see it today.
Yes, it was pretty decent, although people will complain as you've seen.
Where would I place it? I don't know, my least favorite was Temple of Doom while Last Crusade is likely my favorite by a little bit. I actually enjoyed Crystal Skull, unlike many.
I was just thinking. I know Harrison Ford has said this movie was the last one for him but I think he has one more in him, Indiana Jones and the Fountain of Youth.
Well, it wasn't as bad as I expected it would be, considering how terrible Crystal Skull was.
(I'm going to post here on the assumption that if you're here, it's because you've seen the movie and want to discuss it, so I'm not worrying about anything being a spoiler.)
I had a bit of a hard time liking Helena. Yeah, she turned out to be a badarse, but we're not told exactly why she is, as far as her background, or really why anything about her is the way she is, like why she's apparently a con artist of some kind. And her being an opportunist kind of killed her likability.
And, while I liked the end okay, I kind of would have preferred it if he'd stayed-- him being gone forever, in a way that made him happy, would be a nice end to the franchise, IMO. I don't know how I feel about the whole "meeting Archimedes" scene (kind of dorky, and I suppose they were maybe using it to set up why Indy couldn't stay?), and I wish we'd seen exactly why Arch broke the dial apart (I could see him seeing what the dial brought to his world and thinking it should be destroyed, but clearly that's not what happened if he had it half-done there and then finished it).

I guess I need to see DoD. I have low expectations for it.
I had low expectations for Crystal Skull but I enjoyed it, warts and all. I definitely place Crystal Skull above Temple of Doom and Skull went down much easier than Temple did. They did a lot right in Temple of Doom but the bad stuff overwhelmed the good stuff IMHO.
It will be interesting if I like DoD. I hear it is really unfocused and tries to do do much and highlight too much back story, like an Indy nostalgia trip.
It was stupid to use Nazis for bad guys, though. In 1969, the Cold War with the Soviet Union was going strong and using communists as bad guys would have made far more sense and fit the period much better. German Nazis in 1969 is going to be a hard sell for me, I think.

Maybe, but when you see it you'll see why the Nazi angle fits in. The first 20 minutes or so sets up the rest of the movie with the Nazis (which is over two hours long).

I heard the next one is call Indiana Jones and the Transition of Mankind. He turns into a woman.

Temple Of Doom aged well. I like it now lots better than I did when it first came out.
So for a guy who hasn't been OUT to a movie since "Aladdin"...is this one to see on the big screen? Or just as good in a couple of months on cable?
