Yes,that's partially true.
Moorestown isnt that much cheaper than say,a comparible northern Nj town....maybe Cranford.
In general it's cheaper. My SIL was going to move to a new dev in Cinnaminson but holy crap the prices were crazy - not what you'd expect down there. And taxes 30% higher than what I pay for a similar sized home. We were both shocked. I'd expect that in moorestown, not cinna.

The key is NEW development. New homes are always assessed higher then an old home. We were going to pay more taxes on a small townhome with no land because it was new then what we (thankfully) did get.. A larger single home with ground.

I bought a new home and wasn't assessed higher. Maybe cinnaminson is due for a reassessment.

People are clamoring for new & will pay ridiculous prices for it in certain towns.
During the boom, someone bought a perfectly good house on my street & tore it down & built a 4 bedroom 2 story house on a street of 2 bedroom one story bungalows. They got almost 400k on a street of houses worth less than $200k. It jacked up taxes on the rest of the street. That was one of the last straws for me.
its a fact every where.. Whether you choose to believe it or not. Go ask a realitor ..
Please, tell me in my town that my newer home was taxed higher than existing homes. tell me why if what you say is true, my taxes rose 20% after reassessment. On my newer home. Thanks.
