It's not surprising, and it's pretty embarrassing that we are ranked 1 LOWER than the mess known as California.
Do you agree or disagree with this?
Do you agree or disagree with what makes up our lack of freedoms?
The taxes here just plain suck. Yeah, suck. That's the best word to describe I believe. I also think (well know, I don't think it's a FACT) that we have just TOO much Gov't intereference in our lives.
It's just really depressing, actually.
Some things may seem silly or stupid, but let's be honest here: I should wear a seat belt because I know in the event of a car accident it MAY reduce the chance of death or serious injury. That is information I know. I should NOT be forced to buckle up. I don't mind being advised or suggested, but for it to be illegal? I should pay a fine because I chose to be wreckless?
Some people will be so blind to this because it's common knowledge that we should wear seat belts. But what people DON'T understand is that if someone just doesn't want to wear it and risk themselves -- why does it matter? Why should the governent tell us to buckle up.. then fine us if we don't?

I agree with you 100%. They should scrap the laws requiring seatbelt usage. They should also allow hospitals to require upfront payment for treating individuals who were injured in a car accident where they were not using their seatbelts.
I'll be honest. I am SOMEWHAT OK with some nanny laws like the seat belt law I mentioned previously, simply because we SHOULD wear them anyway. (But believe me, I totally understand how it is against our freedom to have it). .. but what kills me are the taxes.
We want to move to Nevada/Vegas one day. If you look at the other states, Nevada is #6 in freedom .. So, what I did was I found an online payroll calculator. I input my info for the job I have now.. and I did it for if I made the same exact money in Nevada.
The differences were depressing. I would make about ~$80 more a month in Nevada. $80 isn't alot, but at the moment I don't make a lot... so therefore, $80 is a lot. And plus.. it's my F'in money, let me keep it >_<
My partner's difference was close to $60 a month. That's $140 a month that we could have.
UGH.
*prays that this economy gets better so he can leave NJ*

Why should the injury matter? Why should we be forced by law to do something that we should already do.
You can still be injured badly in a car accident WITH the seat belt. Does it make a difference if you broke your neck with or without a seat belt? No. You broke your neck.
Allowing them to tell us what we should and shouldn't do -- and letting then take our money for not listening to them -- is a disgrace.
I prefer staff to pump my gas for me. I don't have to deal with the weather.
LOL, but why can't people have a CHOICE? Some places have self serve and some places have the staff do it. If you want the staff to do it, you pay more. If not, you do it yourself. Choices are logical.
Exactly. Most New Jersey folk think that we need laws to save us from ourselves....which is why we are where we are right now
If Fireworks were legal half the state would be burned down ....
