The post wasn't New Orleans STYLE , my friend . It was NEW ORLEANS COFFEE . Different meaning .Go back and actually read the post . BTW , I was pointing out the silliness of that statement , and you took it a little too serious . Relax .

He's got a point, though.

For instance, I can't stand Baton Rouge-style expressways. Not enough lanes.

And texas-style beef. Too texy.

And what's up with Christian-style churches?

New Orleans is a gem, a place where so much French culture and its offshoots survive in this country. The sense of history, the sense of a proud culture, that feel of France during la belle Époque, the feel of France that's in so many restaurants is as strong as a workman's cafe in the old Les Halles at 4 A.M. with tripe stew and vin ordinaire. At the other end of the spectrum I've found no difference eating rack of lamb at Antoine's from eating it in Paris. But Parisians don't get Oysters Rockefeller. Your food is so wonderful.

During the winter a local restaurant has fresh oysters flown in every Friday for frying. They're excellent but they somehow taste better in Lousiana.

The museums are great; there are incredible galleries, overpriced but one can't have everything. The sense of history is overwhelming. I did, however, learn that Desire Street wasn't what I had always imagined it would be.

Be proud of your city and its environs; it's one of the world's greatest.

Just to go ahead and throw that horse into the furnace, there is a story on yahoo right now about Folgers being America's favorite coffee... Two of the top ten "most popular" comments on the story are regarding the superiority of Community and Cafe du Monde.

Lol. Not so much. I just moved back home to New Orleans from Shreveport and not only can they not make gumbo, the food there, in general, sucks...

Also, most of the annoying misperceptions I've heard about my city have come from people in Shreveport who have never traveled past Alexandria
