This map is bogus. Why in the world are areas of Spuyten Duyvil in yellow along Johnson Avenue? That is a subsection of Riverdale which is very safe and I can only think of one random crime that was caused by some outsiders from the Bronx.

Yellow means that the area should be fine to anybody, but you may still see occasional incidents. You just need basic street smarts (don't go out drunk waving the money and expensive gadgets) and you should be fine.

If it's completely safe at night than it can be changed. I remember people saying that the area around the park should be in yellow because robberies happen around here. If it should be clear then we can update it.

That area is well west of Broadway and the decent part of Kingsbridge that borders Riverdale. Aside from that one incident, I have never heard of any sort of issues. We see plenty of people walking their dogs at night as we're in the car going up the hill. The same is true of Johnson Avenue which is also shaded. Because of Ewen Park being there, that's dog territory all along Johnson Avenue and past the park all the way up West 239th street where Johnson runs into Henry Hudson Parkway East and where Henry Hudson Parkway East and Riverdale Av. meets. In fact I don't know of anyone in their right mind that would go skipping along in a dark park late at night because it's isolated, but there are people walking their dogs all around the park where there is better lighting at all times of the night. In fact I'd say the lighting by the steps going up Johnson and by the park has been improved and as a result, it would make it difficult for anyone to try anything.

So what about the park itself? Is the park safe itself at night too?

I had a PM discussion with somebody who lives in Riverdale, and he said Ewen Park should be yellow. I originally had it blank.

Of course, you'd probably say "Why you'd leave it blank if you're not familiar with the neighborhood?", and then when I change it to yellow when I talk to somebody from the area, now you complain about it being yellow.

I disagree. Although Parkchester has some issues, I don't find it any more dangerous then say Jackson Heights. Almost all of the violent crime in the 43rd precinct occurs West of White Plains Road. I would make it a yellow area (the complex)
