I agree. I work in sales and I always know when someone isn't going to make it due to them being negative about everything. After getting to know them during training or whatever, usually it all goes back to how they were raised or problems in their current life.

The only way they will get out of their funk is either through therapy or God. These people can't seem to get away from seeing their whole life from a victim view point. So, you can't hate them, but they sure are hard to be around.

And never ever waste good Happy Hour money drinking with them!

No. Actually I love them.

They give opportunities to the rest of us.

You are what you think you are.

I find myself staying away from negative people. Usually, I try to cheer them up and get to know what is bothering them. When they continue to be negative despite my efforts to cheer them up, I usually find myself incredibly busy whenever they wish to talk or hang out. I am a happy person, and I don't want to listen to anyone rant constantly. Yes, I am sorry that there are people who view everything from a pessimistic viewpoint, but I am not willing to be brought down by them.

I've realised I'm generally negative and pessimistic.
This does not mean I see my self as "a victim of society" or whatever as some in this thread seems to think. I do understand that people will prefer the "life of the party" before me, and I do understand why they do prefer this. I prefer my funny friends before my bitter acquaintances aswell.
Here is how I see things;
We're all trying to get as much of life as possible in one way or another. Some things we can control and some things we can't. How much effort we put in to the things we can control is what determines our chance of getting well off. Some will struggle more than others without enjoying the same success and that's it. These will probably be more "negative" in general than those who struggle less.
All I can do is my best, and it will either make it or break it, and that's it. The only regrets is what didn't do, not what I did wrong.

Many people who lives in some of the wealthiest countries are the among most negative, cold, rude and uncaring. Bad things happen to poorer folks, too but you don't hear them bashing and bit*hing endlessly like the latter group- who were dealt a ''bad hand''. A bad ATTITUDE just makes things worse.

Just saying.

Everyone is entitled to ***** every now and then, but if it's constant then I agree; we should deport them to an island. While we're at it, let's toss in the gang bangers, child molesters and animal abusers

I don't see why so many people seem to have such a passionate dislike for negative people. Their negativity is their problem, why make it yours by letting it get to you? Avoid them where possible and let it roll off your back when not, then get on with your own life.
