We saw Alex Ovetchkin at Vapiano in Ballston about a month ago, early on a Saturday. I actually didn't recognize him--I couldn't care less about hockey--but the guy working there told me who it was after he left.

My sister-in-law saw Bono at Equinox in DC several years ago, on her birthday. She didn't bother him, but evidently, he'd noticed the waiters' birthday fuss over her--and on his way out gave her a kiss on the cheek! Very cool.

And we *think* we saw Valerie Plame jogging on Chain Bridge once, a few years ago. I yelled out to her that it was my birthday, but unlike Bono, no kiss on the cheek. Which is a good thing, because my wife would've killed me!

Robert Duvall sat at the table next to me at Sweetwater Tavern in Centreville.

I once exchanged pleasantries with Jimmy Stewart, and his wife Gloria, at a cocktail party in Georgetown....circa late 70's.

Jimmy Carter dropped by later that evening, but meeting "George Bailey" was more memorable to me! LOL

Very cool. Did you go up to him and say "Now now now see here, Mr. Potter, you warped, frustrated old man"?

I've seen him at a few places. Also, it's easy to see Chris Cooley out here in Loudoun. He's very much the local booster.

We saw Chris Cooley and Casey Rabach (center for the Redskins) last year at Moby Dick House of Kabob in the Wegman's plaza off 28 & Waxpool (Sterling? Ashburn? I don't know the borders too well...). It looked like they had come from practice. We also saw Cooley at a Capitals game a couple years ago.

He has been a regular there since they opened. He must really like their food which is good....just a little $$ for me.

A friend of mine just bought a vase that Chris made from his gallery in Leesburg. Also, Chris's mom teaches at Briar Woods HS here in Brambleton. He's definitely more integrated into the area than some of the other professional athletes who live out here (and do stupid things like start bar fights, like one Redskin did a few years ago).

I saw Rahm Emmanuel last Shabbat. I wished him a hearty "mazel tov" on the bat mitzvah of his daughter.

Saw the lady who plays the lead character in "Weeds" at church on Easter Sunday. Couple of Redskins, but since I don't follow football, I didn't know their names. Met Kelly McGillis at a friend's house once. Also ran into Steven Baldwin at the CVS on Dupont Circle late one night.
